Stu Webb Lecture at IACC Conference, New Orleans, October 18, 2008Denton Record Chronicle, October 12, 2008 Denton attorney Camille Milner and her brother, Dr. Wes Milner of Evansville, Ind., were chosen to present the Stu Webb Lecture at the 9th annual Forum of the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals on Oct. 18 in New Orleans.
The address will focus on the emergence of interest-based negotiations throughout the world as a method of solving problems. Collaborative law, which started with family law, is now expanding into other areas including civil, probate, guardianship, real estate and employment law. The concept focuses on goals and interests of individuals rather than using a traditional method of dispute resolution, which focuses on each side taking positions. Camille Milner practices collaborative law in Denton. She is a member of the board of trustees for the Collaborative Law Institute of Texas and the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals, and is a trainer in collaborative law. ![]() Wes Milner Wes Milner is currently director of the International Studies Program and the Igleheart Chair in Political Science at the University of Evansville. His primary teaching role involves offering international relations courses, such as international law, human rights, U.S. foreign policy and politics of the global economy. He began his career in Washington, D.C., where he spent several years as a researcher for a government contractor, working closely with a number of security groups, including the National Security Agency and the Department of Defense. |
The Collaborative Approach
The Law Office of S. Camille Milner strongly advocate the Collaborative Law Process. Through the Collaborative Process, the attorneys and other professionals assist the parties in resolving their cases by interest-based negotiation (positive/constructive) rather than position-based negotiation (negative/destructive) without the trauma or expense of “going to court.” This is accomplished by face-to-face meetings where we explore the parties’ interests, goals and options and in a very civilized approach and reach a “win-win” resolution for the parties. |
